DYMO LabelWriter 4XL vs Shippo (2026): which is better for resellers?

Short answer:

• Choose DYMO LabelWriter 4XL if this sounds like you: Sellers who want a long-standing brand.
• Choose Shippo if this sounds like you: Sellers who want multi-carrier rates without a large monthly fee.

DYMO LabelWriter 4XL overview

The DYMO LabelWriter 4XL is a long-standing 4x6 thermal shipping label printer, known for reliability, though it works best with DYMO-brand labels.

Shippo overview

Shippo offers discounted multi-carrier shipping rates with integrations for Shopify, Etsy, eBay and others, plus an API for developers.

How to decide

Shipping is where small margins quietly disappear. Discounted label platforms can save meaningful money on every package compared with retail counter rates, and a thermal label printer removes ink costs entirely. Compare carriers supported, whether there is a monthly fee, and whether the tool imports orders from the marketplaces you sell on. The deciding factors usually come down to each tool's standout strength (for DYMO LabelWriter 4XL: reliable and well known; for Shippo: free starter tier) weighed against its main drawback (proprietary labels cost more versus per-label fees on some plans).
